Wedding Plans: Where Do We Start?

So, you’re engaged, it’s time to start planning the most exciting day of your lives, but amongst all the excitement, planning a wedding may start to feel daunting and it can be difficult to know where to start! Our Wedding and Events Manager, Shannon, has a degree in Events Management. She has been in the events planning business over 7 years and she’s been with us at The White Hart for 5 of those years.  She and her team of wedding organisers  provide inspiration, advice and support to our couples from the very beginning to the very end of the process.

We asked Shannon a few questions to help you take the first steps towards the rest of your lives…

What should we look for in our dream venue?

“Location, flexibility, budget. You should look for a venue that can offer you your dream weddings based on both of your needs and expectations. It’s always a good idea to read reviews and do plenty of research before selecting your venue.”

At the White Hart, we understand how personal your wedding day is. We offer a classic country venue with a modern twist, meaning we can suit the most contemporary as well as more traditional tastes. Any ideas will be accommodated to the best of our ability to ensure each ceremony is special and memorable.

What should we bring with us to our first appointment?

“We recommend that you bring along a pen and paper to make some notes. It’s a good idea to make a list of questions before your appointment.”

We have recommended an article below with a list of important questions for your consultation, some of which you may not have thought of yet. You can also get in touch via phone/email with our co-ordinators if there’s anything that you think of later on so don’t worry about fitting every detail in straight away. You can also use apps such as Pinterest to create a mood board and save ideas as you go along.

What should we expect on our first visit?

“An initial visit to a wedding venue and the facilities on offer to you for your special day. Our co-ordinators would usually sit down with you both and ask you a brief idea on what you are looking for. They will then discuss our pricing structure, menus and show you through our photo albums. They would then usually walk you around the venue explaining in detail what you would expect on the day. They would also show you into the honeymoon suite and bedrooms providing they are available for viewing. Our team can also check our availability to let you know what dates are currently available.”

What do we need to know about our wedding before we come?

It’s always helpful if you have some ideas with regards to dates, guest numbers and what you are not looking for with regards to catering for the day. If you do not have any of that information that’s no problem as we can provide you with inspiration on those choices. However, if you do have those ideas then you can usually be provided with a quote.”

The budget of your wedding can often be something that’s difficult to assess. We offer a variety of payment options to suit your lifestyle and your budget, meaning there’s less pressure on paying and more focus on celebrating!

Is there anything we should ask?

This article on what to ask your venue lists all the best questions.”

We hope this helps with the pre-planning stress a little. You can call 01629 534888 to arrange to chat to Shannon or one of her team about your wedding. This will also be a chance to have a look around and picture how your day would fit in our stunning venue and its grounds.
